DISCOURSE MARKERS

1. At the end of the day, life is about being happy being who you are.

2. Nothing puzzles (baffles) me more than time and space; and yet nothing troubles me less (worry, disturb, upset)

3. Winning is fun…Sure. But winning is not the point. Wanting to win is the point. Not giving up is the point. Never letting up is the point. Never being satisfied with what you’ve done is the point. The game is never over.  

4. It's funny how I'm good at giving advice to others, but when it comes to helping myself, I don't know what to do *  It's really funny when it comes to giving advice, we have so many clues to solve everyone's problem. What happens when we have to follow them ourselves? * People are pretty forgiving when it comes to other people's families. The only family that ever horrifies you is your own * To tell you the truth, when it comes to art, money is an unimportant detail 

5. The bottom line is to be in control of your own destiny * To me the bottom line is: good music is good music * The bottom line of Hollywood is money * The bottom line is that everyone thinks differently

6. Breakfast is a big deal. I love it * It's no big deal if I disappoint strangers * It's no big deal being on TV!: I don't believe in being serious about anything. I think life is too serious to be taken seriously * To have your childhood dream realized is a really big deal

7. There's no telling how many guns we have in America—and when one gets used in a crime, no way for the cops to connect it to its owner.

8. If I say I'm the best actor for the part, I mean it and I'm not kidding * If I say often enough that I'm going to be in 'King Kong, my chances of being right are so absurdly small I can ignore them completely / I have a small but real chance of being wrong / there is an excellent chance of my being wrong, but also an excellent chance of being right / there is a large chance of being right but a somewhat larger one of being wrong / the chance of my being right is still quite real, but my chances of being wrong are much higher.

If I say that there is a fir tree somewhere in the state of Massachusetts, . If I say that one exists within my town, . If I say that one exists on my block,. If I say there is one in my yard, . If I say there is a fir tree on a specific square foot of my yard, 

I think fan fiction is the way most writers start, and the same goes for music and design *   * You get 12 years of childhood, give or take (possibly a little more or less than the amount or time mentioned: It'll be ready at 6:00, give or take a few minutes / years ...; It cost £200, give or take)* Sorrow is so easy to express and yet so hard to tell * I am incapable of conceiving infinity, and yet I do not accept finity * 
 *   * For me, the bottom line is what's on the page *

The only place the police can turn for help is a Kafkaesque agency in West Virginia, where, thanks to the gun lobby, computers are illegal and detective work is absurdly antiquated. On purpose. Thing is, the geniuses who work there are quietly inventing ways to do the impossible.+
